Back in 2012, the team here at Festwich, spearheaded by Jools Taylor (a Prestwich resident) decided that paying an average of £56 plus booking fees per person to attend a festival was a ridiculous price and often out of reach for many. Having gone to school in Prestwich, Jools was determined to bring something to Prestwich that would be accessible to all. With a lot of heart, soul, creativity and hard work, we managed to craft a Free local community festival that now appeals to not just the locals of Prestwich, but also people from all over the UK and Europe. Festwich now appeals to families from all over, as it is an affordable festival experience, and something that Prestwich is very proud of. Festwich has remained true to it’s roots and ethos of not charging for the tickets, thus allowing the festival to keep a genuine feel good factor, something the audience feels and brings with their appreciation. The thing that enables us and Festwich to remain true, the heart of Festwich is the people, Prestwich and the music.
For one weekend a year there is an extra special Buzz around Prestwich and the Town is alive with not just Prestwich people, but music lovers who have travelled the length and breadth of not just the UK, but as far as Europe. Word has travelled far that once a year a now very special festival takes place in our Town named Prestwich.
